A patented, female cultivar of German origin that has large lateral branches and is moderately thorny. It produces an abundance of larger light orange berries that ripen in September. They can be harvested by picking, or cutting off and, after freezing the entire branch, shaking the berries off.
The berries can be used for jams, preserves, fresh eating, and juices. The berries are considered a superfood as they contain Vitamins A, C, E, and K, as well as Omega-7, Potassium, Calcium, Phosphorous, Zinc, Magnesium, Niacin, Boron and B vitamins. Portions of the plant are also used medicinally in Europe and Asia for various ailments. The plants have the added benefit of tolerating and improving poor soils as they fix Nitrogen. They will do better in soil that has good drainage. Plant where they can be managed as they can become invasive in some areas.
