The common lilac is an old-fashioned, long-lived, and well-loved lilac shrub best known for its fragrant, purple flowers in the spring. It is extremely hardy and thrives with little care once established which makes it suitable for wind breaks or hedges. It will not survive in wet, poor drained soil, but can tolerate alkaline, salt and heavy clay soils. It needs good air circulation where it is planted. Combine with Villosa lilac for an extended bloom season.
Note: Bare root (BR) stock is only available until May 11. Viability is not guaranteed for bare root stock that is not picked up promptly.
