Ruby Stella Daylily produces dark wine-red, medium-sized (3″ diameter) blooms with a yellow streaked throat. It will bloom repeatedly throughout the season.
Daylilies tolerate heat, poor soils, and can adapt to a variety of growing conditions. Every part of the daylily plant is edible, including the flower buds, flowers, young shoots, and tubers. The buds are particularly noted for their flavor, which is often compared to a mix of asparagus and green peas. Parts of the daylily have also been used traditionally for medicinal benefits.
