The White Currant is a natural mutation of the red currant. It is an attractive understory shrub that produces an abundance of yellow blossoms in the spring and mild berries in the summer that vary from white to pink. The berries are high in Vitamin C and antioxidants. The berries hold well on the bush, and can be eaten fresh, or used for preserves or wine-making. The leaves turn yellow in fall. Prefers well-draining, moist, clay loam soil. Can be used as a hedge.
