Red Lake Currant is an attractive understory shrub that produces an abundance of yellow blossoms in the spring and tart, red berries in the summer that are high in Vitamin C and antioxidants. The berries hold well on the bush, and can be eaten fresh, or used for preserves or wine-making. The leaves turn yellow in fall. Prefers well-draining, moist, clay loam soil. Can be used as a hedge.
