A beauriful compact American vibernum, also known as highbush cranberry. The maple-shaped leaves emerge a coppery colour before maturing into dark green, and then become a brilliant red-purple colour in the fall. Attractive, white lacecap flowers in the spring turn into round, red, tart berries in the fall. The berries should not be eaten until ripe and taste better after a frost. Juglone tolerant.
Prefers average to moist soils and some shade. Can tolerate clay soils.
